CUBS: try the #Local Adventure Challenge

Cub Leaders: Are you sick of trying to reinvent the same game over and over again with your Cub Scouts who demand new and exciting things to try? Well then you’re reading the right newsletter! One of our very own Mission Peak Cub Leaders has got it figured out.

Eve Ruhlman from Pack 441 in Newark has created a game that she calls the 30 day Cub Scout Local Adventure Challenge. It is similar to the popular game Bingo that has Scouts work their way across and down the playing card, trying to complete all 30 activities.

There are 30 squares and each day has an exciting ‘challenge’ that each Scout and their family is to try. Once the the activity is complete, the Scout can take a picture as proof that they completed the exercise then on to the next square.

Once they’ve completed all 30 squares, then they submit their photos to their leader and wait for their prizes.

Here’s what you need to get things started:

As a parent/cub leader, you are free to take and make your own playing board, substituting any fun exercise that’s Scout and COVID-safe. It’s a great way to promote family-inclusion and getting outdoors (safely, of course).

If you have a game that you’ve created during the pandemic or one that you’d like to share with others, please let us know by sending us an email at and we’ll put it up on the next Mission Peak News Flash.
