Share Your Troop’s Summer Experiences at the August Roundtable
Hope you and your troop had an awesome summer and are ready for an amazing scouting year.
|
For the Scouts BSA Roundtable, we are asking units to share their summer experiences. Did you go to an in council camp, an out of council camp, high adventure, or something else entirely? Is there anything you wish you knew before you went? Share your experiences, and learn from your fellow scouters.
|
The August roundtable will be held over zoom. In September, we will return to Washington HS
|
If you would like to share your experiences at Round Table we ask that you fill out a short three question form to tell us what camp or activity you will be discussing and a brief overview of what you plan to say.
|

8/10 - Cub Scout Roundtable in person to talk about Back to School Recruiting!

Cub Scout Roundtable will be Monday, August 10th at an in-person meeting at 7 pm at Newark Community Park
Hosted by Jonathan Leder.

The beginning of the school year is an opportunity to recruit new youth and adults into your pack. We also want to ensure you have a thriving Lion den and to eliminate any gap years. Jonathan Leder, the new Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner will be guiding you through the recruiting process step by step. We'll also start the conversation on how to get adult engagement so you are not the one doing all the work."

What is Roundtable and why are we making this change?
If you have never been to a Roundtable, it is a monthly opportunity for Scouting leaders to gather and share their experiences, ideas, and resources with each other. It is also an opportunity for leaders to learn about resources and guidance that can provide a better scouting experience for both the youth and the leaders.
|
We know that you are busy, and that attending another meeting each month has a cost to it. It is our goal to make the value that you gain from these meetings worth the cost of your time. We feel that the best way to provide this value is to have separate meetings each of which will be highly focused on that program.
We hope to see you at Roundtable this year!

8/22 - Flight 93 Memorial Park Tree Planting Opportunity!

The Urban Forest Friends are kicking off the planting season with this very special planting in Union City.
|

This is a great opportunity for you and your scout to learn how to properly plant trees, help your community, and fight climate change.
|
Important: A scout group RSVP must contain one student and one parent/guardian signed up for the group.
|

Is your Youth Protection Training up to date? Time to check!
|
|
|
Have you double-checked to see if your Online Youth Protection training is up-to-date? To remain registered and avoid being suspended, please make sure to complete the required training before your expiration date.
|
A few important reminders regarding the new SYT system:
|
- If you have never taken the full 90-minute SYT course, you must complete the full course first before taking the 20-minute refresher.
- If your SYT has been expired for 7 days or more, you will need to retake the full 90-minute course.
- If you previously completed the older YPT course, you must still complete the new 90-minute SYT course. Taking only the refresher will not give you credit.
- If you take the refresher course first without previously completing the full SYT course, it will not count toward your training requirement.
- If you score below 80% on the refresher quiz on your first attempt, the system will direct you back to the full course.
The courses are available in both English and Spanish through https://my.scouting.org/. Please login to your account and click on the safeguarding youth logo to take the training.

Staying current on SYT is required for all registered adult volunteers and helps us continue providing a safe environment for all youth in Scouting.
