POSTPONED: Fall Camporee to November 8-10 - Please RSVP ASAP!

POSTPONED: Fall Camporee to November 8-10 - Please RSVP ASAP!
The Mission Peak Fall Camporee Adult staff learned late Thursday evening, September 19, 2024, that Mines Road will be closed for construction beyond Mile Marker 6.5, from September 30 to October 19, 2024. Unfortunately, this means there will be no access from Livermore to Rancho Los Mochos for camporee weekend, October 4-6.

The only viable alternative we have found available is at Rancho Los Mochos over Veterans’ Day weekend November 8-10, 2024.   At this time, we remain committed to the success of our Fall Camporee.

We know this is the scheduled weekend for units to dispense door hangers for Scouting For Food. However, we have been assured the door hangers will be available for pick up at the October Round Table on October 10th, and they can be distributed any time before the scheduled pickup of food donations on November 16th, should units wish to attend Fall Camporee on its new date.

We are consulting with the professional Council staff about the best way to reschedule this event and re-process, adjust, or refund registrations.

If your Troop is interested in participating in Camporee on the new dates let us know by Saturday, September 28, 2024.  Either complete the form below or email Brian Putt ()  If sufficient troops are not available to attend, we will probably cancel the Camporee.

This is 100% separate from the October District Roundtable. The Troop Showcase is one of the very best places for Arrow of Lights to start their quest for their ideal Troop. Typically, over 80% of the Troops are present at the Troop Showcase with a similar percentage of the Arrow of Light Dens participating in the event. Please pass the word to Troops and to Arrow of Lights, their Den Leaders, and their parents.

Updated information for each troop will be posted on the website.  This is a resource for Arrow of Light Cub Scouts and their parents in their quest to bridge into Scouts BSA.

If you have questions, please contact Henry Allen, Assistant Chair for Membership - Webelos to Scout Retention,

The Famous Bronze Burro Award is being awarded to one our own Mission Peak District Volunteers!
The Quiet Legacy: Inside the Bronze Burro Award

Most of you are familiar with the esteemed Silver Beaver, Antelope, and Buffalo awards, and some may have even heard of the elusive Bronze Wolf presented by the World Scout Committee. But there’s another, lesser-known recognition: the Bronze Burro. Though it doesn’t appear in official Scouting publications, the Bronze Burro has a deep-rooted local history dating back to at least 1959. It celebrates individuals with a remarkable dedication that embodies the award’s unique legacy.

The Bronze Burro Award, introduced by volunteer Gerhard Schwaegerle and Scouting Professional Jasper Steele, pays tribute to the burros once cared for on council properties. Traditionally awarded at the Twin Valley District’s Volunteer Recognition Dinner, this award honors those who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to Rancho Los Mochos (RLM), an integral part of our Legacy Councils for more than a half-century. Historically, the RLM Ranger selects the awardees; previous recipients include past Rangers and volunteers who have made wide-ranging contributions to the camp, including restoration projects, historical trail mapping, and infrastructure improvements.

In 2024, Brian Putt was awarded the Bronze Burro for his significant contributions to major projects, his leadership on the camp's property committee, and his pivotal involvement in the National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) program at Rancho Los Mochos.

Thank you for everything you do, Brian Putt!
