Scouting for Food is coming up! Get your units ready!

Scouting for Food is coming up! Get your units ready!
Thanks for all you have done to prepare for the upcoming Scouting for Food Drive. Last year, our Mission Peak District blew the other Districts away with food donations and let's do it again this year!

The need has never been greater – one in four residences of our communities suffers from food insecurity. In the true spirit of Scouting, Scouting for Food affords our scouts, scouters and others the opportunity to provide meaningful service.

The traditional pick up of food donations from homes will be on Saturday, November 11, with door hangers placed in neighborhoods throughout the Golden Gate Area Council the week before.

Besides the always important food collections, remember we also need to publicize and encourage monetary donations for those who may find that more convenient or who may want to give more. We are calling on scouts, scouters, scouting families, friends and community partners to help spread the word. Please fire up the troops and packs and as many scouters and community partners as possible to enlist their assistance in sharing this information.

For more information, check out this link to the GGAC’s SFF webpage: https://ggacbsa.org/scouting-for-food/.

Many thanks. Together we really can make a difference.

Saturday, January 20, 2024

9:30 AM- 3 PM

Starts at Fremont Temple ( Gurdwara Sahib)

300 Gurdwara Road, Fremont, CA 94536

Mission Peak Prayer Hike gives us a unique opportunity to visit different houses of worship & gain a greater knowledge of other religions in our community. It is for all the Scouts (Girls in the all BSA-Scout Program, Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, Explorer, and Learning for Life Scouts), Scout families, and Scout Leaders. This is the perfect opportunity to help achieve your unit’s commitment “To Serve God” & “Duty to God”.

Class A Uniform for all the scouts. Scout family members who are not registered with scouting can wear Casual/ but decent clothes. No shorts or skirts. Bring your unit flag. Some of the worship places require a head covering. Please bring a scarf or handkerchief to cover the head. Bring plenty of water and snacks.

“Houses of worship” places are not within hiking distance. You need a car to go around or arrange for carpooling.

We will be having a “Very Special Lunch & Indian Tea” at Sikh Temple.

The BSA requires that you have at least one BALOO-trained adult on every Cub Scout den or pack overnight outdoor event. That include pack camping and Webelos den overnighters. A BALOO-trained leader is required to be at any overnighter regardless of whether it is a pack, district or council event. Having at least one BALOO-trained adult will make your Cub Scouts’ camping experience as awesome as it can be.

The program is a 1 ½ day experience and the registration fees include overnight camping, dinner on Saturday, breakfast on Sunday.
