Booth at Fremont Festival of the Arts was a resounding success!

Booth at Fremont Festival of the Arts was a resounding success!
A heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who made this possible. We managed to have a significant presence at the festival, promoting Scouting and all our units from Mission Peak. With two Raingutter Regattas and a bean bag toss game, we became a notable attraction in the kid's city section of the festival. Numerous families visited the booth to learn about our programs. They were delighted to find out that girls now play an integral role in our Scouting family and expressed interest in attending a BSA event or open house to learn more. Additionally, alumni Scouters, Eagle Scouts, and retired leaders stopped by, all thrilled to see that Mission Peak Scouters remain as active and robust as ever.

This achievement was made possible by the dedication of over 40 adults and 50 scouts who volunteered their time and efforts. Thank you!

We hope that this will lead to a renewed interest in the Scouting programs and a successful recruitment season for all our units.

It's not about popcorn... it's about Scouting.

Popcorn sales go beyond just popcorn; it's about scouting and life skills. By participating in popcorn sales, scouts can develop math skills, entrepreneurship, and self-esteem. They can step out of their comfort zones, embrace challenges, and develop valuable skills that are becoming increasingly rare.

The funds raised help fund their activities and teach valuable skills like inventory management, budgeting, and sales.

Every Scout should learn the value of hard work and earning their own way.

Popcorn sales prepare scouts for their future and make them confident leaders. It's a rare opportunity for young people to learn real-world skills like sales and accounting. Booth sales, in particular, offer an opportunity to transform into confident salespeople, engaging customers, sharing their projects, and tallying up their sales at the end of the day. The experience has a lasting impact on their lives, boosting their confidence and abilities in various areas. So, support popcorn sales and empower scouts to thrive.

Is your unit interested in funding their Scouting experience for a year? You can use the tools attached to calculate how popcorn sales can help your troop/pack and fund your Scouting experience for a year.

Are you ready to join the fun?

Step 1:  Sign up to Sell Popcorn!!
Step 2: Get trained!! Register for one of the hybrid kick-off. Those who attend one of these kick-offs earn an additional 4% commission. Anyone on your unit can attend. Don't miss out!

Aug 9 & 10 - Training "How to recruit new families

Aug 9 & 10 - Training "How to recruit new families to your unit!"

How to recruit new families to your unit!

Scouting provides life-changing opportunities for youth, families, and our communities at large. Welcoming new families is vital to ensure these traits continue on in our Neighborhoods. A recruitment event provides an opportunity for new families to ask questions, fill out applications and submit their membership fees. The recruiting event is specifically for helping the youth of new families get excited and join your unit right there!

Learn effective techniques for recruiting new families to your Scouting unit! We are offering three sessions - the same material will be presented at all three sessions - and you may attend in person or via Zoom.

For those attending in person, you will be able to pick up printed support materials that you can use to promote your Join Scouting sign-up event. Otherwise, contact your District Executive for these materials. To register, click on the link below!

Register for Zoom:
  1. Wed Aug 9, 7:00-8:30 pm
  2. Thur, Aug 10, 7:00-8:30 pm

Webeloree 2023 - Last weekends in September/October

Webeloree 2023 - Last weekends in September/October

Calling all those who will be Webelos & Arrows of Light in October 2023

This weekend is filled with fun events at our great Camp Herms. Activity Pins and Scout Skills galore. Come interact with some Scouts, BSA Troops to get a feel for the adventure at a Troop level. We will offer a rotation-style event, where the Patrols of Scouts will travel to program areas and complete their Adventure.

This is intended for a 1:1 Cub to Guardian ratio weekend. We understand if one guardian must take two Cub Scouts, which is more than acceptable! This guardian will be responsible for each participant while they are at camp. This event is for Webelos and Arrows of Light only as the program is specific to their age-appropriate program. A packing list, schedule, and Pins for the weekend will be emailed ten days before the event.

Every participant should bring a bag lunch on Saturday. Dinner will be provided as a group activity. Sunday breakfast is offered. You will be camping, so make sure to bring your essentials, including a mess kit for meals. Please only attend this event if you plan to camp! If you are only arriving for the day, you are keeping the opportunity for another Scout and their adult partner to camp overnight. Pins and patches are included in the price and will only be handed out on Sunday to those who stay overnight.

Questions? Contact Camp Director Tracy Peters (pacificflyer1@gmail.com). For Registration information and link, please click below. Golden Gate Area Council - Webeloree 2023 (scoutingevent.com)
