6/8 - Scout Leader Mixer - LiveScan Opportunity and Meet our New District Executive at Swiss Park Grill
Come out and join us at the End of the Year Scout Leader Mixer at Swiss Park Bar and Grill to celebrate another successful year in scouting! Our leaders are invited to join us on Thursday, June 8th from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Swiss Park Bar and Grill at 5911 Mowry Avenue, Newark, California. Come chat with us about how your pack/troop did this year, what your plans are for this summer, and so much more.

Also, we will have our new District Executive, Fernanda Ruiz, planning to join us at this meeting so come out and introduce yourself to our new leader!

On top of this, there is going to be a LiveScan Opportunity to get your fingerprinting done for the new child protections plans happening in our state so take a chance to get this process done on this date. For the LiveScan form to use for this event, click on the following links: TIME SLOT - https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0B49AFAB23A2FF2-live1 and FORM - BCIA 8016 - Request for Live Scan Service (missionpeakscouts.com)

P.S. Remember, this is a fun social so no official BSA uniforms or appeal can be worn to this event.

6/8 - Changes in Scouting are coming up - LiveScan is required for Campouts

6/8 - Changes in Scouting are coming up - LiveScan is required for Campouts
Beginning September 1, 2023 if you want to spend a night with the Troop you must be registered in scouts, take YPT (Youth Protection Training), complete CA Mandated Youth Protection training, and have had a LiveScan.   This is the result of the settlement of the National Lawsuit.

To facilitate the LiveScan fingerprinting part of this, we have arranged for a company to do it at the next Round Table on June 8 at Swiss Park Grill starting at 5:30 until 7:30. This will be a non-uniform social event to celebrate the completed scouting year and to network in person.   If you have not had a LiveScan done for Scouts, please take this opportunity to have it done on June 8.  That gives you an option to participate in a camping trip down the road as LiveScan is a one-time requirement.   We have arranged for the lowest price anywhere of $35 (cash or check only on June 8).   Please sign up for the live scan by clicking on this link.

Just get it done!

We need to have sufficient sign-ups for the company to attend.  Please sign up NOW!  For questions, please post in Slack or contact Skip Phair.

Nominate our Best Leaders for the District Recognitions & Awards in November!
Have you seen a scout volunteer just really do an amazing job?

Have you seen a committee member work really hard to finish a project flawlessly?

Have you noticed a den leader really put their heart and soul into their unit?

Volunteers put countless hours of time, energy, blood, sweat and tears for our program and often do not get recognized for their hard work. Now you can help get these "quiet warriors" recognized for all their hard work! For less than 5 minutes, you can go online and nominate them so they get the appreciation they deserve at an upcoming dinner in early November. And you can submit as many people as you would like, there is no limit! Deadline submissions are September 28th so please start now!  You can use the link below to submit your nominations!

Learn more about the Messengers of Peace Opportunity!
Welcome to the Messengers of Peace program in BSA. World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) created Messengers of Peace in 2011, to encourage Scouts around the world to step up and do what they can to make the world a little better. The MoP program falls under WOSM’s Better World Framework.

Messengers of Peace aims to promote a culture of peace and dialogue for mutual understanding, promote service initiatives led by Scouts, support the development of young people affected by conflict situations, provide further connection to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals and connect Scouts around the world in a global network of 20 million Messengers of Peace.

NYLT - June 11-17, 2023 - Registration: 75% Full so sign-up as soon as possible!

NYLT - June 11-17, 2023 - Registration: 75% Full so sign-up as soon as possible!
Registration for NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) is open. The course is now 75% filled as of March 29.  We expect the course to be full by May 1. Now is the time to look at registering. Scouts must be 13 or older and 1st Class at the start of the course. They also need to discuss their participation with their Scoutmaster before registering and get approval.

NYLT, the premier youth training course for personal development, is youth-led and simulates one month in the life of youth-led scouting. Scouts will develop valuable skills for activity planning and communicating with others. They and their patrol will learn and complete activities working towards a vision of success. Scouts are divided up into patrols, boys in all-boy troops lead by boy staff members and girls in all-girl troops lead by girl staff members.

GGAC offers two sessions yearly, a small one in February and the larger session in June. The June course does accept more than 2 Scouts per unit, unlike the February NYLT.

For more information on NYLT and to register, visit the NYLT Webpage.
