San Francisco Spindox Professional Yo-Yo Club, Duncan Yo-Yos and the Mission Peak Cub Scout District invite ALL BSA scouts that are interested in learning some awesome new tricks and work on their Yo-Yo Adventure Badge!

1/26 - Mission Peak Indoor Rally Information!
Open to all BSA Troops and Venture Crews. This is a fun unit team-building activity,
especially for the younger Scouts. Skills targeted include first aid, knots, compass and
the ever-popular Scoutmaster drag! Invite families and friends, and especially
Webelos and Cub Scouts, to attend. There will be a special event just for Webelos
and Cub Scouts.

Location: Holy Spirit Church Gym, 37588 Fremont Blvd., Fremont, CA 94536
(At Fremont Blvd. and Central Avenue)

Schedule:
6:30 pm - Check-in and Registration
7:00 pm - Grand Entry of Troops
9:00 pm - Awards

Fees: FREE!

Bring: Equipment for all 6 activities, Actual Troop participates, American and Patrol flags

Prizes: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place ribbons plus Spirit award

Registration: Register at the door at 6:30pm

What: Mission Peak District Merit Badge Extravaganza (MBeX)
Where: Washington High School, Fremont, CA.

The Merit Badges offered are changing a little. Some have expanded and others replaced as they had no signups. So, it you have not done so already, please review the current offerings of merit badges. Registration is open to only Mission Peak scouts through the 15th. If we do not reach our participant limit and have some space open, we will open to other Districts in GGAC. There is some demand by other Districts.

We know how difficult it can be to plan events for your troop and come up with creative ideas for the Spring. Well, fear not! The BSA Mission Peak District has TONS of really cool things planned for your BSA scouts this Spring. Just add them to your troop calendar for the Spring and bam! You got some great activities that have many things that can be signed off on under the requirements in their Scoutbooks.

January 20 - 5th Annual Mission Peak Prayer Hike - Mission Peak Prayer Hike gives us a unique opportunity to visit different houses of workship and gain a greater knowledge of other religions in our community. It is for all of the Scouts (Girls in the All BSA-Scout Program, Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing, Explorer, and Learing for Life Scouts), Scout families, and Scout Leaders. htis is the perfect opportunity to help achieve your unit's commitment "To Serve God" & "Duty to God". January 21 - Scout Comedy Family Night at Made Up Improv Theatre - 3pm to 4:30pm - Join us for an afternoon of unscripted laughs about Scouting, Camping, Pinewood Derby and so much more as the cast delights the Scouts and their families with improv games and scenes similar to "TV's Whose Line Is It, Anyway?" ! FEBRUARY 3 - Merit Badge Extravaganza - 9am to 4pm - Take this opportunity to earn two merit badges on the same day! Keep your eyes open for the classes available but go ahead and save the date in your calendar for this event.

FEBRUARY 17 - Mission Peak Yo-Yo Day - 12pm to 3pm - Come out and join the San Francisco Spin-dox Professional Yo-Yo Players as they do some cool tricks and help scouts earn their Yo-Yo adventure badge. MARCH 24 - San Jose Barracuda Hockey Game - 2pm to 4pm - Come see the action on the center ice in your scout uniform! If we have enough scouts sign up, we will get the opportunity to high five the players as they go into the ice and get to take a picture on the ice after the game. APRIL 13 - Heroes in our Community - Civil Servants and Organization Scout Expo - 10am to 1pm - Come out to Newark City Hall and meet all the heroes in our community! We plan on having the fire department, police officer, California School of Deaf, Mayor of the town and so much more! Be the Best Scout Leader You Can Be!

Join your Fellow Scouters on January 27, 2024 from 8am to 5pm, for a complete day of learning, fun and experience!

L.E.A.D. is Golden Gate Area Council's ultimate training event for Scout Leaders, Parents, Venturers and Senior Youth. Join us for a full day of learning, fun, and a great overall experience.

L.E.A.D. offers over 130 classes across 6 colleges:
  • Cub Scouts
  • Scouts BSA
  • Young Adult Programs (Venturing, Sea Scouts, Exploring)
  • Outdoor Education
  • Continuing Education
  • Technology
The day is broken up into 6 sessions. Some classes are 1 session, others, such as CPR certification, are 3 sessions, while even others, like position specific leader training can cover all 6 sessions.

REMINDER: YOUTH ATTENDANCE POLICY AT LEAD 2024

LEAD is the premier training for Adult Leaders offered by the Golden Gate Area Council and is intended for Adult Leaders.

Calling all Scouts! The Golden Gate Area Council and its members are invited to Scout Night at the University of the Pacific in Stockton as the women Tigers take on local rival San Francisco Dons on Saturday January 13th at 2:00 pm. Come and enjoy this high paced action game with your pack or troop for the special offer of only $5 per person for general admittance seating. Urban Forest Friends needs the assistance of your scouts to get local group helpers involved in a Jan. 13th planting at lake Elizabeth. The planting will be in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

At this planting we can only use scouts who are 15 yr. old or older, but I thought maybe some members of your troop might be old enough. We are not yet posting the sign up, but will as soon as we get the authorization from city of Fremont. Scouts may earn community service credit for participating.
