  • Solicit your input on how we might improve the Volunteer Recognition Dinner held last Saturday.  Format , timing, or anything else.
Breakout Sessions
  • Ideas for good stress-free Cub Scout den meetings
  • We are starting to plan for 2024.   One of the questions that keeps coming up is Spring Camporee.   We would like to have feedback on the Fall Camporee that could improve the next camporee (Spring and/or Fall).

Come join us at a fun and friendly in-person mixer for all our Scout leaders/parents/volunteers in the Mission Peak District! Swiss Park will have their kitchen and bar open with delicious pub food including the $20 Scout Prime Rib Special, and tasty drinks so come out and socialize at this no-host event and get together with your fellow Scout leaders, parents, and volunteers!

Wednesday, December 13th from 4pm-7pm

Swiss Park, 5911 Mowry Avenue in Newark, California

You have been waiting all year to get this invitation so do not miss out on this great opportunity to reconnect and have a great time. We will also have a LiveScan opportunity going on at the same time so take this chance to socialize and legalize yourself 😊 This is an unofficial event so no BSA uniforms/attire but bring your face mask, your friendly personality, and an appetite!

Scouting for Food is this Weekend! Make sure your Unit is ready!

Scouting for Food is coming up! Get your units ready!
Thanks for all you have done to prepare for the upcoming Scouting for Food Drive. Last year, our Mission Peak District blew the other Districts away with food donations and let's do it again this year!

The need has never been greater – one in four residences of our communities suffers from food insecurity. In the true spirit of Scouting, Scouting for Food affords our scouts, scouters and others the opportunity to provide meaningful service.

The traditional pick up of food donations from homes will be on Saturday, November 11, with door hangers placed in neighborhoods throughout the Golden Gate Area Council the week before.

Besides the always important food collections, remember we also need to publicize and encourage monetary donations for those who may find that more convenient or who may want to give more. We are calling on scouts, scouters, scouting families, friends and community partners to help spread the word. Please fire up the troops and packs and as many scouters and community partners as possible to enlist their assistance in sharing this information.

For more information, check out this link to the GGAC’s SFF webpage: https://ggacbsa.org/scouting-for-food/.

Many thanks. Together we really can make a difference.

1/13 - Winter Camp Awareness Training at the USS Hornet

1/13 - Winter Camp Awareness Training at the USS Hornet
On Saturday, January 13th, 2024, the Order of the Arrow will be conducting our annual Winter Camp Awareness training on the USS Hornet in Alameda. If your troop intends to pursue winter camping or cold weather camping, this is the training experience that will prepare your youth (and leaders) to have a fun and safe time in the snow or cold.

Scouts will be taught how to Sleep Warm, choose the proper Tent and Terrain, operate Stoves and Fuel, select Winter Foods, perform Winter First Aid, and choose proper Winter Clothing. This training is essential and will help prepare Scouts for any winter-oriented events, whether it be the upcoming Klondike Derby, your own unit-led events, or any winter events!

Winter Camp Awareness' historic venue, the USS Hornet aircraft carrier, is a fascinating preservation of the nation's history. It is a place where Scouts can go back in time and walk in the footsteps of their country's servicemen and women. After the event, you will have the opportunity to tour the USS Hornet at your own pace.

For details and to register your unit, please click: here  You may share this with other Unit Leaders if interested. If you have any questions, please email WCA@oa-yerbabuena.org.

Yours in Scouting,
Christian Egli
WCA Youth Chairman
