Citizenship in Society

The new merit badge encourages Scouts to explore important topics around diversity, equity, inclusion, and ethical leadership and learn why these qualities are important in society and in Scouting.  Click here for a detailed presentation on how GGAC is implementing this new MB.

Urgent Help needed NOW with Outdoor Rally

Urgent Help needed NOW with Outdoor Rally planned for Saturday 3/19

Outdoor Rally will be canceled unless people step forward to help now

If we are to hold this event, we urgently need Adults and Youth to step forward now to plan & lead this event.  Contact Jeff Airth at jeffair@hotmail.com

We had to postpone Indoor Rally due to Covid restrictions and the ability to host large-scale indoor events is still a way off.  So, as the weather is getting nicer and we now have an open weekend in March, the Mission Peak District Committee has decided to bring the Indoor Rally outside!  As a replacement for the Spring Camporee, we are planning an “Outdoor Rally” in or near Fremont that would have a similar feel as our traditional Indoor Rally with head-to-head competition among troops.   Cub Scouts and families will be able to observe the Troops and Crews compete in relays in a large, open park setting.  We will plan to have an event or two for the Cub Scouts as well.   Watch the newsletter for more details.  An announcement will be made at the Roundtable on Thursday 2/10, and questions will be answered.  Contact Jeff Airth at jeffair@hotmail.com

Hold the date June 13-16 for Cub Day Camp
Mission Peak District will once again be hosting their Annual Cub Scout Day Camp the week of June 13-16, 2022 at the Ardenwood Farm. Come have your scout join us for a weeklong of fun and outdoorsy activities at this historical farm site and have a great day working on cub scout electives and helping the animals around the farm!

We will inform you when registration is open but please save the date for this great event! Only 72 scouts from the entire Mission Peak District will be allowed to attend this year so make sure to register your scout as soon as registration is opened!

If you are interested in volunteering for this event or for more information, please reach out to the Camp Director, Eve Ruhlman, at Eve.M.Ruhlman@gmail.com .

Feb Roundtabel Recap

Feb Roundtabel Recap
Exciting Bay Area Opportunities

Love was definitely in the air when we were talking about the great and budget-friendly things to do here! We had a great February Roundtable and discussed a lot of great inexpensive opportunities out there in the Bay for our Scouts and their families. During the presentation, different types of activities such as cultural, natural, local, unique museums, historical, and so much more were mentioned. If you missed the meeting, please check out the PowerPoint below for more information.

Recap of Prayer Hike on 1/22

Recap of Prayer Hike on 1/22

Recap Prayer Hike 2022 on January 22

The Prayer Hike gave us a unique opportunity to visit 7 different houses of worship and gain a greater knowledge of other religions in our community. A total of 137 scouts and Scouters participated in the event. At each House, a religious leader provided background on the religion. At the Sikh Temple, a traditional meal was served to everyone. This is a great opportunity to complement your unit’s commitment “To serve God” & “Duty to God”. We have put together the video below for you to obtain a feeling for each of the Houses of Workshop. Please join us for the Prayer Hike next year. Watch the video we created here
