1/13 Roundtable - STEM in Scouting - Zoom Only

What relationship does BSA have with STEM? Are there any STEM-focused activities within BSA? Fostering a vital STEM education is our country’s best opportunity to boost the spirit of innovation and ensure our youth continues on a prosperous and secure journey. To learn more about this, come out to our January Round Table meeting to learn about how to promote STEM through the Nova award program and the SuperNova Award program. Vanji Sivajothy will share his experience on the Nova program as well as what your unit can do to get more involved in this important part of our future.

In January, we will NOT meet in person. This will be a Zoom ONLY meeting.

1/22 Prayer Hike - Register Now

Come join us for our Third Annual “Mission Peak Prayer Hike”
The Mission Peak Prayer Hike gives us a unique opportunity to visit different houses of worship & gain a greater knowledge of other religions in our community. It is for all Scouts BSA, Cub Scouts, Venturing Crews, Explorers, Learning for Life, Scout families, and Scout Leaders. This is the perfect opportunity to “compliment your unit’s commitment “To serve God” & “Duty to God”.

Class A Uniform for all the scouts. Scout family members who are not registered with scouting can wear Casual/ but decent clothes. No shorts or skirts. Bring your unit flag. Some of the worship places require a head covering. Please bring a scarf or handkerchief to cover the head. Bring plenty of water and snacks.

Register Now, no fee, but we need a headcount for the refreshments.

- The various houses of worship locations are NOT within hiking distance. You will need a car to go between them, please arrange for carpooling.

T154 Partnership with Makai Sea Scouts for High Adventure
|
|
Troop 154 Fremont Established Partnership with Makai Sea Scouts Oakland Alameda for High Adventure Activities
The ultimate High Adventure Program is right here in GGAC! Troop 154 has partnered with Makai Sea Scout Ships ( https://seascoutshipmakai.com ) for scouts to develop their seamanship skills in big boats, dinghies, rowing teams, large and small power engineering and more.

November 2021, Troop 154 scouts cruised with the Makai SSS from Ballena Isle, Alameda, to Angel Island for a High Adventure Dayhike. Scouts completed a 6 miles strenuous hike and around 3:30 pm, we embarked on the ship and started cruising back to Ballena Isle. We were thrilled to watch the Beaver Moon, lighted Bay Bridge, and SF Downtown from the ship.

Before disembarking, scouts went inside the engine room and learned about various components ( dual engine, cooling system, exhaust pipes, generators, battery, etc ). It was very hot, which shows that the engines did a lot of work to move the ship. The whole event was a huge blast! Some of the scouts got very excited and joined Makai Club 700 ( Maritime Explorer Club - MEC ) to continue their journey in Sea Scouting.

2/26 NorCal College of Commissioner Science
|
|
|
The NorCal College of Commissioner Science is a premier training event for Adults. It will be held on Saturday 2/26 8:00 am - 5:00 pm over Zoom. This event is targeted at Commissioners, but all registered Adult Leaders and Parents are welcome to attend. There is a rich catalog of classes that will be taught by experienced Scouters.
