Come join us for this unique and fun nostalgic event with a new modern twist! Co-sponsored by Duncan Yo-Yos and San Francisco Spindox Yo-Yo Club, the Mission Peak District Yo-Yo Day is open to any and all those who would like to work on Adventure Loop/Pin for Wolves, Bears, or Webelos/AOL rank or for those who just wanna have fun!

The event is FREE to anyone who wants to attend. Registration is not required but we recommend you pre-purchase the event's official Yo-Yo Kit which includes the official BSA Yo-Yo, the Duncan Yo-Yo trick booklet, the requirement guidelines, and the belt loop/pin at Golden Gate Area Council - Mission Peak District Yo-Yo Day (scoutingevent.com). Yo-Yo kits are limited to the first 192 scouts so pre-purchase these kits soon and they will be available for you at the registration table. Reminder, the park does not allow money to be exchanged at the site on the day of the event so click on this link to pre-purchase a kit.

- This year we are hoping to make camporee a far more youth led event. Unit leaders and others interested in learning more are welcomed to attend a meeting on Sunday, January 29 at 7:00 PM

We are actively recruiting a youth staff. Requirements for youth staff are:
|
- Currently registered with a Scouts BSA Troop, Venturing Crew, or Sea Scout Ship
- First Class or above
- 14 years of age or older
Youth staff will be eligible to earn up to 16 hours of service-learning credit. Interested youth should apply on this form Camporee 2023 – Youth Staff Registration More information will be posted to both Slack & Discord servers on a regular basis.

3/18 - Mission Peak Scout Hockey Night with the San Jose Sharks!
|
|
Our Mission Peak District has received a special invitation to come out to see an official NHL hockey game all together in the same section! Come out in your finest Class A uniform and come cheer on the Sharks as they go against the New York Islanders on the ice. Normally around $60 dollars, these special discounted tickets are available now for purchase and has the option to include a Scout Night patch.

On top of all this fun, a percentage of the sales goes to our Mission Peak District and if we have over 100 MP scouts come out for the night, we have been invited to go out on the ice at the end of the game for a large aerial picture of our scouts! Everyone and anyone are welcome to join us so make sure to invite your family and friends to this great adventure on the ice!

4/22 - Mission Peak Scout Sleepover at the Chabot Space Center
|
|
|
Blast off into an out of this world experience exploring the outer realms of space! This program will take your group from Earth into the great unknown through workshops, activities, exhibits, telescopes and planetarium offerings! During this special evening for our Mission Peak scouts, they will have an amazing opportunity to see the stars and planets closer than they ever have before.
|
The sleepover is $95 dollars and includes dinner and breakfast. We are working on finalizing the paperwork for Cub Scouts who are interested in working on their NOVA Out of this World Award during this outing.

Makai Maritime Explore Club is looking to add some Sea Scouts to their crew
|

|
Inviting 6th to 8th Grade Boy Scouts who would be interested in joining the Club 700 ( Makai - Maritime Explorers Club ), a Sea Scout unit registered w/ Mission Peak District.
|
- Aquatic fun activities ( Kayak, Sailing, Rowing etc )
- Earn two Aquatic Merit Badges for FREE
- Learn Sea Scout Skills: Knots, Rope Climbing, Breeches Buoy, Ring Buoy, Compass, Heaving Line, Scuttlebutt, Radio Communication, Marlinspike, Bosun’s Chair
- Participate in Regatta ( Camporee ) in April - Seafarers Regatta @ Martinez
- Participate in Cruise (SF Fleet Week, Lighted Yacht Parade - Based on availability)
- Optional: Join the Weekly Online Class - Thursday 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm
Annual Membership Fee: $100

NYLT - June 11-17, 2023 - Registration Open
|
|
|
Registration for NYLT (National Youth Leadership Training) is open. The course filled last year by April 15 so now is the time to look at registering. Scouts must be 13 or older and 1st Class at the start of the course. They also need to discuss their participation with their Scoutmaster before registering and get approval.
|
NYLT, the premier youth training course for personal development, is youth-led and simulates one month in the life of youth-led scouting. Scouts will develop valuable skills for activity planning and communicating with others. They and their patrol will learn and complete activities working towards a vision of success. Scouts are divided up into patrols, boys in all boy troops lead by boy staff members and girls in girl troops lead by girl staff members.

GGAC offers two sessions yearly, a small one in February and the larger session in June. The June course does accept more than 2 Scouts per unit, unlike the February NYLT.
