7/4 Independence Day Parade
|
|
- Parade Date: Monday, July 4, 2022
- Staging Time: 9:00 am @ Fremont Main Library, look for a cone with #45 on it. Enter from the corner of Civic Center & Stevenson (not from Passeo Padre & Stevenson due to road closures.
- Start Time: 10:00 am
- End Time: 12:00 pm
- Location: Starts at the Fremont Main Library at Stevenson Blvd and proceeds north on Paseo Padre Pkwy to Capitol Ave (see attached map).
All Cub Scouts, Scout Troops, Venturers, Scout Leaders, family, and friends are invited to march in the 4th of July Parade. As is our tradition since the first parade, all Mission Peak units march together as the largest entry in the parade.

Please wear your uniform. Parents and siblings can accompany their Scout. Wagons or other non-motorized items are encouraged. Individual scouts can participate. Units should bring their flags and banners.

7/23 Scout Night at Oakland Roots Professional Soccer

Mission Peak Scouts have been invited to the Scouts Night with the Oakland Roots Soccer team
Is your unit looking for something fun to do this summer but low on ideas? Looking for a great event that also has a cool patch? Want to organize an outing but don't want to collect a headcount or money from parents? Then look no further! The Oakland Roots is excited to host Scout Night at Laney College as the Roots take on Las Vegas Lights on July 23rd at 7 pm.

Oakland Roots is a professional soccer team located in Oakland and they will be hosting the first-ever Scout night and it will be a blast! They play all their games at the Ozone Stadium at Laney College, which is right next to downtown Oakland. The details are being finalized but there will be different soccer activities all based on age where every group will be able to participate and at the end receive an Oakland Roots Badge. No need to purchase a certain group amount rather each participant can get their own ticket at a discount rate.

A link has been attached where anyone that is interested in participating/coming will be able to purchase their own tickets at a discount price. However, if there are some units that are interested in getting special food or drinks can reach out to the main contact, Eduardo Miranda at eddie@rootssc.com. Common issues with AB506 reporting
|
|
The tracking and reporting of who has and has not completed AB 506 training + Live Scan is a completely manual process. One dedicated individual in GGAC generates the reports monthly about the first week of each month. Here is the June 2, 2022 AB 506 report.

Typical issues that cause missing information on the monthly AB506 compliance report.
|
- Missing Live Scan
- Live Scan companies use your name exactly as it appears on an official government document (typically a driver's license) to request your Live Scan processing. The resulting reports are given to the council’s AB 506 administrator show this legal name. If your BSA Registration uses the same legal name, there will be a match. However, if you used an abbreviation or nickname for BSA registration, we may not be able to make a verifiable match. If you know this is the case, provide both names to your Unit &/or District leadership so a proper match can be made.
- If you completed your Live Scan at a neighboring Council event (e.g. Wilderness First Aid class in SVMBC); your results were likely sent to them instead of GGAC. If you know this is the case, provide the date and location of your LiveScan to your Unit &/or District leadership so a proper match can be made.
- If you completed the LiveScan late in the month, the results likely were not available when the reports were created. Please wait one more month for the next report to come out. Manual reports are typically generated each month around the first week of the month.
- Missing AB506 Training
- You might have forgotten to upload your training certificate.
- You might have uploaded your training certificate to the wrong Council, possibly to Golden Empire and not Golden Gate
- During the upload, you might have omitted or entered the wrong BSA ID.
- The name on your training certificate &/or the one you supplied in the upload process might not match the name you have used for registration with BSA.
- If you uploaded your training certificate late in the month, the results likely were not available when the reports were created. Please wait one more month for the next report to come out. Manual reports are typically generated each month around the first week of the month.
- For issues a-d, upload your certificate (again) correcting the problem this time. For e, wait a month.
- Missing name from the report
- You might have a my.scouting login ID generated during the process of registering your child, but you have never paid and registered yourself as an Adult Leader. Without being a paid Adult Leader, we do not have a membership record to match up with your AB 506 files. In addition, without being a paid Adult Leader, you are not currently required to take the training & Live Scan (but thank you for proactively doing so).
