Lion-Tiger-Wolf Pumpkin Patch

Lion-Tiger-Wolf Pumpkin Patch
Come join us for some Fall fun at the Mission Peak Tiger Pumpkin Patch. This event is designed for Lions and Tigers (K-1st) Scouts as they seek to have another outdoor adventure with their Lion/Adult Partners.   Wolf Scouts who missed the event last year are also welcome to attend.

We will have a check-in booth for families and will offer advice on how best to experience the Ardenwood Pumpkin Patch. Attendees will receive a cloth patch that can be combined with the Tiger Kite Day and Tiger Safari Family Camp later next year.  Cost for the patch is $2.

For questions, please email Vanji Sivajothy at vanjikumaran@gmail.com

YPT Classes in November to support the new stricter rule

YPT Classes in November to support new stricter rule
One change that affects all registered Adult Leaders in Mission Peak is the new more strict rule that the GGAC Board of Directors adopted this past April regarding YPT.
At recharter time, all Adults wishing to be included must have a YPT certificate that is valid for the entire period of the new charter.

For the 2022 recharter, this translates to adults needing to have NO expiration dates in 2022 and having expiration dates on or beyond 1/1/23

Your cooperation in retaking YPT before your Unit submits their recharter information in November would be greatly appreciated.  You may retake YPT on your own schedule by accessing the course at my.scouting.org.  If you prefer a classroom setting, you can attend one of our Zoom classes in November.

Currently, the classes are scheduled for:
  • Sat 6th 9:00 am
  • Fri 12th 7:00 pm
  • Sun 21st 4:00 pm
Check the website calendar to confirm dates & times as well as register to attend a session.

Collecting names for potential Camp Health Officers for weekend outings

Collecting names for potential Camp Health Officers for weekend outings
Due to a change in the national standards that govern the operation of our camp facilities, we must now provide a Camp Health Officer on site whenever we use our remote camps, including Rancho Los Mochos in the hills beyond Livermore.  This is necessary when we host a District event such as a Camporee, Adult Leader Training, or Shooting Sports.  It is also necessary when a Unit holds a private event.  To qualify as a Camp Health Officer, the individual must be one of the following:
  • Licensed physician
  • Licensed nurse practitioner
  • Nurse (RN, LPN, or LVN).  Nurse’s aides, Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), and assistants do not qualify .
  • Licensed physician assistants
  • Paramedic
  • Emergency medical technician (basic, intermediate, or paramedic)
  • Emergency medical responder, i.e. ., current state license from the state in which the camp is located or current Nationally Certified First Responder listed on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (www.nremt.org) or, until 2017, eligible for certification on the National Registry.
We are collecting names of people who qualify and might be willing to serve as a volunteer in the capacity of Camp Health Officer.  By submitting your name, you are not committing to serving, but only to taking a phone call to discuss the opportunity to serve.  Click here to submit your contact information as a potential Camp Health Officer.

We Want Your Feedback on Popcorn by 10/22

We Want Your Feedback on Popcorn by 10/22
Hope you and your unit scouts are having a wonderful popcorn season so far. We wanted to do a quick check with all of you to see how things are going and if you have any questions/comments for us. We also wanted to encourage all our scouts who have done an amazing job selling popcorn in the past few weeks.

We at MP district want to know more about your scouts' experience of selling popcorn so far this season. Please ask your scouts and do let us know things like

  1. What do they like best about selling popcorn?
  2. Which one is their favorite flavor this year?
  3. Share any fun incident/ story that happened this year so far while selling popcorn (please tell us your pack/troop # when submitting)
We can put it all together and share it in our district newsletter. This might encourage other scouts to try and sell popcorn.

Also, we would like to request a few pictures from each popcorn selling unit. We will make a collage of it and put it on the district website/Facebook page. The pics can be scouts doing storefronts or wagon sales. Make sure to get parents' consent before you send us those pictures.

Please send us this information by Oct 22nd and we will put it all together; our email addresses are listed below

Kind regards,

Popcorn team at MP district

There will be loads of fun activities like Shooting Sports, Hatchet Throwing, Scout Skills, Cooking & Pumpkin Carving Contest so bring your artistic skills. You may even see a Zombie or two roaming through the campsites.

The Troop reservation fee for this event is $50 and this reserves your campsite. In addition, each camper is $25 to attend, which will be collected at check-in. A late fee of $10 is added to all registrations received after 5 pm on 10/15/2021.
