  2. Online portion over Zoom, see info below:

Join us on Thur10/14 for two topics

  1. Inexpensive & Fun Activities in the Bay Area for Scouts:
    • "What are we doing this month? That sounds boooooring!! " "But we have already DONE that!!" Are these the reactions you are getting from your scouts? Are you getting frustrated trying to find fun activities for your scouts? Are you struggling to choose plans that work for everyone's budget? If so, come join us at the October Roundtable on Thursday, October 14th at 7 pm to discuss what great (and inexpensive) outings and adventures are available in the Bay area that you may not have known about! We will be discussing sports, outdoors, museums, special events and so much more! Make sure to come out with a notebook to take down notes for activities that would perfectly fit your scouts!
  2. Roll out of the new Internet Recharter Process for 2022
    • Each Unit should send at least one adult to preview the new system. We will be working in a live "sandbox" environment. The new system will go live on Friday, October 15th.

Deadline 10/14 - Recognize your Adult Leaders

Deadline 10/14 - Recognize your Adult Leaders
Each year in the fall we hold our Mission Peak District Adult Leader Recognition Event. We recognize the Adult Leaders who have performed above and beyond in their volunteer positions. We know who to recognize because you, the Parents, nominate these Leaders. We want you to take a moment now to think about who has done a particularly good job and submit the feedback now. Use this online form now or anytime in the future to record your nomination.

The 2021 nominations are due by 8:30 pm Thursday, October 14th.

If you want to know more about the various awards give out by the District, visit our Adult Recognition page.

AOL Scouts & Parents - Troop Showcase Sat 10/16

AOL Scouts & Parents - Troop Showcase Sat 10/16
October is traditionally when the Troop Showcase is held. It is an opportunity for Troops to present themselves to the Aarrow of Light / Webelos II Scouts from all over Mission Peak. This year, we are trying something a little different. The Troop Showcase will be outside on Saturday, October 16 from 10 AM until Noon at Centerville Community Park, 3360 Eggers Dr, Fremont, CA 94536. This is 100% separate from the District Roundtable. The Troop Showcase has traditionally been one of the very best places for Arrow of Light  / Webelos IIs to start their quest for their ideal Troop. We typically have over 80% of the Troops represented at the Troop Showcase with a similar percentage of the Webelos II Dens participating in the event.

We are asking that Troops send us a one-page flyer by no later than October 6. We will then publish this information on the Mission Peak Website on the  Troop Showcase page. Then on Saturday, October 16 from 10 AM to Noon, Arrow of Light / Webelos II, their parents, and leaders are welcome to see multiple troops and discuss what the troops are all about.

We Want Your Feedback on Popcorn by 10/22

We Want Your Feedback on Popcorn by 10/22
Hope you and your unit scouts are having a wonderful popcorn season so far. We wanted to do a quick check with all of you to see how things are going and if you have any questions/comments for us. We also wanted to encourage all our scouts who have done an amazing job selling popcorn in the past few weeks.

We at MP district want to know more about your scouts' experience of selling popcorn so far this season. Please ask your scouts and do let us know things like

  1. What do they like best about selling popcorn?
  2. Which one is their favorite flavor this year?
  3. Share any fun incident/ story that happened this year so far while selling popcorn (please tell us your pack/troop # when submitting)
We can put it all together and share it in our district newsletter. This might encourage other scouts to try and sell popcorn.

Also, we would like to request a few pictures from each popcorn selling unit. We will make a collage of it and put it on the district website/Facebook page. The pics can be scouts doing storefronts or wagon sales. Make sure to get parents' consent before you send us those pictures.

Please send us this information by Oct 22nd and we will put it all together; our email addresses are listed below

Kind regards,

Popcorn team at MP district

There will be loads of fun activities like Shooting Sports, Hatchet Throwing, Scout Skills, Cooking & Pumpkin Carving Contest so bring your artistic skills. You may even see a Zombie or two roaming through the campsites.

The Troop reservation fee for this event is $50 and this reserves your campsite. In addition, each camper is $25 to attend, which will be collected at check-in. A late fee of $10 is added to all registrations received after 5 pm on 10/15/2021.

Recharter Kick-Off & Implementation of new YPT Rule

Recharter Kick Off & Implementation of new GGAC YPT Rule
The 2022 Recharter Season is Kicking Off Now. All Unit Key3 members have been informed of the changes. Please be on the lookout for your Unit to confirm your intentions to recharter and collect your 2022 fees.

One change that affects all registered Adult Leaders is the more strict rule that the GGAC Board of Directors adopted this past April regarding YPT.
At recharter time, all Adults wishing to be included must have a YPT certificate that is valid for the entire period of the new charter. For the 2022 recharter this translates to adults needing to have NO expiration dates in 2022 and having expiration dates on or beyond 1/1/23

Your cooperation in retaking YPT before your Unit submits their recharter information in November would be greatly appreciated.
