Scouts Are Getting Out & These Success Stories From Packs 199 & 176 Prove It!
Here are a few of the recent success stories from Mission Peak units over the last week:

Pack 199, Warm Springs Rotary

This high-performing pack held their first in-person event as a Sign-Up/ Information Night at Hooper Park in Fremont this last Thursday night. Swami Ramesh, Pack 199 Cubmaster, knows exactly what he's doing and was willing to share a few of his recruiting secrets with everyone.

It all started with sharing the news with all current Pack families that there would be a signup event held at the local park. Then the word got out in Peach Jar with an electronic flier at Warm Springs Elementary. They also put out a few bright yellow JOIN SCOUTING signs, set up tables with applications and showed off pinewood derby cars and other scouting items and it worked...they had 53 new families attend and 39 of those filled out apps and have ultimately joined the fun of Scouts! Such incredible results!

I'm not sure what made this event such a huge hit. Maybe it was the rocket blast, the energy of the pack volunteers and interested families or the freedom of getting out and having fun in the park. Or maybe all of these things. No matter what, the Pack 199 Scouts and their leaders proved that Scouting is Back & Stronger than ever! Awesome job, Pack 199!!!

Pack 176, Centerville Presbyterian Church

Our next story was shared with me over the weekend and is about my favorite snack: delicious Scout popcorn. Neil Ogimachi, Pack 176 Popcorn Kernel had his Scouts out in full force this last weekend for the Pack's first Show & Sell. The location: Dale Hardware. Number of Scouts selling: 8. Amount of Popcorn Sold: $3,951. The look on a customer's face when you tell them you just sold out of their favorite flavor...priceless.

Neil had 8 Scouts, selling in 2-3 hours shifts over the weekend (Sat/Sun) while using a combination of selling tools to achieve these incredible numbers. They started by hanging the professional-looking Trails End sales banner to attract the customer, then put 3 cute, little Cub Scouts in uniform and taught them the sales pitch.

Once hooked, the customer sales were closed by using those convenient Square Card readers to speed up the sale and keep things touch-free. The only problem...it appears that Cub Scouts are not so good at forecasting sales...they ran short on one of Trails End's most popular flavors...Kettle Corn. Unit Kernels beware...don't let this happen to you and your Scouts. Stock up on plenty of Kettle Corn before you venture out (at least that's the advice that Neil Ogimachi offers).
