9/15 - Volunteers, especially Woodworking Helpers, needed at the Historic Shinn House in Fremont!
There is a request for help needed at the Mid Autumn Festival on September 15, 2024. This is a fabulous event that is being put together for the community and there are several areas where help is needed such as:
— Set up tables and chairs in the morning
— Help kids build at the “Little House” wood workshop area
— Move the tables and chairs back into the shed.
The activities don’t overlap, so one group of scouts could do all. Or three groups could come at different times of the day. For more information or if your unit is interested in signing up, please email Janet Barton at or check out https://www.historicshinnhouse.org/

Time to check on your Unit's Training Records!
It's that time again to review your troop's training records to ensure that all adults who have attended trainings like ACORN, IOLS, and SMST have their records updated accordingly. If any trainings are missing, please send Lee Amon, the District Training Chair (copied here), a list of the adults who attended these sessions, along with the specific trainings that need to be uploaded into the system. He will handle the updates.
It’s also important to note that, in addition to in-person trainings, there are a series of videos on My.Scouting.org that adults need to watch to be considered fully trained. Please see the attached document for more information.
Kindly remind all registered adults in the troop to log in to their My.Scouting.org account, click on "My Training," and then look for "Requirements" on the left side. There, they will find all the videos they need to watch according to their position in the troop. Most of the videos are only 10-15 minutes long. Some trainings, like hazardous weather, have an expiration date of two years and need to be retaken in order to keep "Trained" status.
To review your troop's records:
1. Log in to My.Scouting.org.
2. Go to "Organization Manager."
3. On the left side menu, click on "Unit Dashboard."
4. You will see two pie charts on the left: one for YPT and one for training records.
5. You can download a report and export it to CSV/Excel.

Updated Troop Committee Guidebook - A great tool for all scout leaders!
I hope everyone is doing well. Fernanda wanted to share the attached Troop Committee Guidebook for all of the scout leaders in our district. It covers troop organization, committee responsibilities, leader recruitment, finances, Scout advancement, meetings, outdoor programs, charter renewal, training, and policies. With practical tips and best practices, it's a great tool for improving planning and operations.
Fernanda thinks this guidebook could be useful in defining new committee members' roles and responsibilities, as well as helping to guide activities and management. She hopes you find it useful too and can help some of our new (and old) unit leaders.
