1/8 - ONLINE Roundtable tonight!

1/8 - Online Roundtable this Thursday!
Thursday, January 8, 7:00 PM

In our continuing effort to better support our volunteers, and based on feedback we have received over the past year, we will be experimenting with an online format this month. After announcements and general news, we will break into a Cub Scout room and a Scouts BSA room.

Cub Scout Breakout Room - Planning a great campout for your pack or den presented by Jonathan Leder

Scout BSA Breakout Room - Family troops: What are they? What does this change mean for your troop? What are best practices?

We look forward to seeing you there. As always, we are always looking for your feedback on how to make roundtable more effective for you. Please feel free to share any ideas, suggestions, or frustrations. And thank you for all you do for scouting!

1/28 & 1/29 - Tree Planting Volunteer Opportunity to start off the year!

1/28 & 1/29 - Tree Planting Volunteer Opportunity to start off the year!
Happy New Year and hope everyone is staying dry from the rain this week!

Our first Urban Forest Friends event for 2026 will be helping the Green Pocket Forest team plant a Miyawaki Forest at Schilling Elementary School in Newark, from Wednesday, January 28th to Thursday, January 29th.

This tree planting will be different:
Typical tree plantings: we plant 15-gallon trees that are already 5-8 feet tall, set apart from each other so that they have plenty of space to grow with space underneath for people to walk.
Miyawaki Forest: we plant thousands of small tree saplings and understory plants in a dense grid, so the competition for space causes them to grow very quickly. Within a few years, they become an ultra-dense "pocket forest".

Both types of tree plantings help green our community and add to our tree canopy, but are suitable for different locations.

Come and Join us at Mission Peak District’s 9th Annual “Mission Peak Reverence Walk”

Saturday, January 17th, 2026 from 8:30 am - 3 pm

Starts at---    Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

810 Walnut Avenue, Fremont Ca 94536

Mission Peak Reverence Walk gives us a unique opportunity to visit new and different houses of worship & gain a greater knowledge of other religions in our community. It is for all involved with the BSA-Scout Program-- Cub Scout, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Explorer, Sea Scouts, and Learning for Life Scouts, Scout Leaders, and Scout Families. This is the perfect opportunity to “compliment your unit’s commitment “To serve God” & “Duty to God”.

All the Scouts that come in their full uniforms will earn the Duty to God patch and the Scout family members who are not registered with scouting can wear Casual/ but decent clothes. No shorts or skirts. Bring your unit flag. Some of the worship places require a head covering. Please bring a scarf or handkerchief to cover the head. Bring plenty of water and snacks.

“Houses of Worship” places are not within hiking distance. You need a car to go around or arrange for carpooling. We will be having a “Very Special Lunch & Indian Tea” at Sikh Temple.
