6/7 - "Fishing in the City" Cub Scout Event and BSA Volunteer Opportunity!
Newark Rec has invited local Scouts to come in early before the public to complete their fishing adventure at the annual Fishing in the City event!
WHEN: Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 7:45am to 10:30am
WHERE: Lakeshore Park in Newark, California
The Scouts are welcome to arrive between 7:45 AM-8:00 AM. This gives them 30 minutes prior to the public coming after they sign in. This event is intended for kids 5-15. The event runs from 8:30AM - 10:30AM for the public and scouts can also come during this time but will need to check in with everyone else.
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!! - Since the city of Newark has been so gracious to allow us to come early it would be amazing if we could help them by volunteering. Teens can volunteer by going to this link: https://newarkca.activityreg.com/selectactivity_t2.wcs#. Continue to Sign up under "Summer 2025" and "Teen Volunteer", then select "Fishing in the City".

These events are hosted at local schools and promoted through flyers, emails, and announcements to all families at the school.
Your Role is Simple & Impactful: • Greet families with a friendly smile! • Share your experiences and talk about the activities cub scouting offers • Help get new youth excited and signed up for Cub Scouts.
Other ways you can support:
- Reach out to PTAs, school Facebook groups, or staff to help spread the word
- Share flyers or digital graphics with your parent community
- Bring a few pack families to help welcome new members
Even covering one event makes a big difference in growing our Scouting family!
