ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION - Introduction to GGAC High Adventure Training
Many Scouts consider a high adventure expedition to be the highlight of their scouting careers. But to offer a program that safely includes high adventure requires training. If your unit is looking to launch or expand a high adventure program, GGAC has your back.
Steve Rodriggs will present an overview of the GGAC High Adventure Training Program at February Roundtable.
The Council's High Adventure Training (HAT) program provides the training your unit will need to safely enjoy high adventure activities. From Snow Camping to Whitewater paddling and High Sierra Backpacking, learn about the training required and how the HAT program can help your unit 'Be Prepared'.
Note - this month Roundtable is NOT in the cafeteria. Instead, we will be at the multipurpose room.

IOLS builds and expands on the concepts and themes introduced in Scoutmaster Position-Specific Training (SMPST) and provides Scouters with the confidence to take youth into the outdoors. This hands-on program gives adult leaders a practical introduction to the patrol method of a Scout-led troop by teaching many of the practical outdoor skills they need to lead Scouts in the out of-doors. The skills sessions will be presented by experienced scouters closely following the Scouts BSA Handbook. By using these skills sessions in conjunction with the Scouts BSA handbooks, trainers can be sure new leaders are proficient in many of the basic outdoor skills through First Class rank, and gain exposure to the patrol method and numerous teaching methods and learning games.
