5/30 - Cub Scout Rangemaster Training is available!

5/30 - Cub Scout Rangemaster Training is available!
We’re excited to offer an upcoming Cub Scout Rangemaster Training for those interested in helping run BB gun, slingshot, and archery ranges at Council and District events.
Shooting sports are often a highlight of a Cub Scout’s experience, and helping Scouts learn these skills in a safe, supportive environment can be incredibly rewarding. We hope you’ll consider getting trained and joining us!

Archery Rangemaster Class
Camp Herms
Saturday 05-30-2026
9:00 AM PT to 12:00 PM PT

BB/Slingshot Rangemaster Class
Camp Herms
Saturday 05-30-2026
12:30 PM PT to 2:00 PM PT
Registration: https://scoutingevent.com/023-115073
Training Overview:
  • Required for anyone volunteering as a Cub Scout BB Gun/Slingshot or Archery Rangemaster
  • Certification is valid for two years
  • Participants are asked to assist with two District or Council events during that time (such as Day Camps, Camporees, Webelorees, AOL-o-Rees, or other Cub Scout shooting sports activities)
  • No prior experience needed
Requirements to Participate:
  • Must be a registered Scouts BSA adult volunteer
  • Must have completed Safeguarding Youth Training (SYT)
  • Must be at least 18 years old
Important Notes:
  • The Cub Scout Archery Rangemaster certification allows you to run archery activities at the district/council level for Cub Scouts (Lions through AOL), but not at the troop or crew level. A USA Archery Level 1 certification is required for those events.
  • The Cub Scout BB Rangemaster certification does allow you to run BB gun and slingshot activities at the Scouts BSA troop/crew level.
We’d love to have more trained volunteers to help deliver safe and fun shooting sports programs for our Scouts.

5/30 - Cub Scout Rocket Day!

5/30 - Cub Scout Rocket Day!
We want to support recruitment across all our packs; we are hosting a Rocket Day—and it’s a great opportunity for you to grow your unit! Flyer attached.

This FREE event is designed for new Cub Scouts who joined between January 1 and May 30, 2026, but it’s also the perfect chance to invite prospective families. Cub Scouts can bring a friend who is new to Scouting, and if they join, they’ll get to build and launch their own rocket too!

Event Details:
May 30, 2026
10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Contra Costa Fairgrounds, Antioch

What to expect:
  • Rocket launches (kits provided)
  • S’mores and outdoor fun
  • Activity stations and Cub-friendly games
  • A welcoming environment for new families to learn about Scouting
We strongly encourage you to share this event with all families in your pack and ask them to invite friends, classmates, neighbors, and teammates. This is a great, low-pressure way for new families to experience Scouting firsthand. We are also looking for volunteers to help run the event. If you or any of your families are available to support, please let us know—we’d really appreciate the help!

Registration is preferred, but walk-ins are welcome. Register here: https://www.scoutingevent.com/023-Rocket_Day
Thanks so much for your support, and we hope to see your pack there!

Please let us know If you know of a location closer to you that will allow us to fly rockets. We'll be happy to host/organize another Rocket Day closer to Mission Peak.
