8/2 & 8/3 - Request for Help at the Fremont Festival of the Arts
Mission Peak needs help from our Scout troops staffing a Scouting booth at the Fremont Festival of the Arts on Saturday, August 2, and Sunday, August 3. The troops that participated last year did an outstanding job.
The Festival runs from 10:00 - 6:00pm each day on Paseo Padre Pkwy between Walnut and Mowry Ave. Exact location of our booth in the "Kid City" will be confirmed the week before.
Mission Peak provides one or more fun activities for children at the festival and has information on joining Scouting. We will have a couple "Rain Gutter Regatta" tracks with boats for children to use. A bean bag toss or similar activity will also be there. A knot tying activity is also being considered.
We are asking a troop to agree to one or more two-hour shifts. Staffing is a minimum of two adults (YPT requirement) plus four or scouts to help youth with the activity and to be encouraging about scouting. Shifts will be 10:00 - 12:00 (help with set up), 12:00 - 2:00, 2:00 - 4:00, 4:00 - 6:00.
Scouts who have participated in the past have enjoyed the experience. This event provides great visibility to Scouting. Attendance is over 150,000. Our participation is very important for our relations with community businesses and leadership.
You can enjoy the Festival before or after your shift.
Please call Skip Phair (510-557-5907) or Colton Rettig (925-674-6115) to get more information and confirm you troop's participation.
