7/4 - Come have your unit join the 4th of July Parade!
Come show your Scout spirit at the Fremont 4th of July Parade, marking America’s 250th birthday!! All Units in Mission Peak District are invited and encouraged to participate in the parade under the District's auspices. Please enter your Unit’s interest here: https://forms.gle/uCQBe1ARuLJht6ry6 Please provide your interest and requested information by June 20, 2026.
The District asks that each Unit ensure that two (2) adults (registered with Scouting America) from their Unit attend the parade. These adults will be responsible for all of the Scouts and adults from your Unit attending the parade. They will need to be present from assembly for the parade, marching in the parade and after the parade ends, to ensure that all Scouts are picked up. Units must also ensure that these adults have medical forms (AHMR, parts A, B1, B2 & copy of insurance card) for all Scouts and adults from their Unit who are participating in the parade.
Scouts should attend in their Field Uniform (Class A). Adult leaders are also encouraged to attend in their Field Uniforms, if they have one. Units will be able to march with their Unit flag, American flag and/or Unit banner.
Here is some preliminary information, provided by the parade organizers:
- Parade route: Begins at Fremont Main Library, continues north on Paseo Padre Parkway towards the new “Downtown” area and ends at Capital Ave.
- Participants need to arrive by 8am at the assembly point (near the Fremont Main Library). The parade will begin at approximately 9am. Please note these are approximate times, and are subject to change. Finalized information including timings will be provided several days before the parade.
- Parking will be limited, so please plan accordingly and encourage participants from your Unit to carpool and/or be dropped off near the assembly point.
- Volunteers working with the parade organizers will be present to assist you in locating the District’s assembly location and answer any questions.
Final details and information will be provided to all participating Units several days before the parade. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please reach out to Meena Mariwalla (mgmesq00@gmail.com).

Is your Youth Protection Training up to date? Time to check!
Have you double-checked to see if your Online Youth Protection training is up-to-date? To remain registered and avoid being suspended, please make sure to complete the required training before your expiration date.
A few important reminders regarding the new SYT system:
- If you have never taken the full 90-minute SYT course, you must complete the full course first before taking the 20-minute refresher.
- If your SYT has been expired for 7 days or more, you will need to retake the full 90-minute course.
- If you previously completed the older YPT course, you must still complete the new 90-minute SYT course. Taking only the refresher will not give you credit.
- If you take the refresher course first without previously completing the full SYT course, it will not count toward your training requirement.
- If you score below 80% on the refresher quiz on your first attempt, the system will direct you back to the full course.
The courses are available in both English and Spanish through https://my.scouting.org/. Please login to your account and click on the safeguarding youth logo to take the training.
More information available here: https://www.scouting.org/training/safeguarding-youth/
Staying current on SYT is required for all registered adult volunteers and helps us continue providing a safe environment for all youth in Scouting.
