Mission Peak Prayer Hike gives us a unique opportunity to visit different houses of worship & gain a greater knowledge of other religions in our community. It is for all involved with the BSA-Scout Program --Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Venturing, Explorer, Sea Scouts, Learning for Life Scouts, Scout Leaders and Scout Families. This is the perfect opportunity to compliment your unit’s commitment “To serve God” & “Duty to God”.
Class A Uniform for all the scouts. Scout family members who are not registered with scouting can wear Casual/ but decent clothes. No shorts or skirts. Bring your unit flag. Some of the worship places require a head covering. Please bring a scarf or handkerchief to cover the head. Bring plenty of water and snacks.
“Houses of Worship” places are not within hiking distance. You need a car to go around or arrange for carpooling.
We will be having a “Very Special Lunch & Indian Tea” at Sikh Temple.

5/10 - Nominations for the Annual Mission Peak District Volunteer Recognition is going on!
The Annual Mission Peak District Volunteer Recognition dinner will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025. All scouters in the district are invited to attend. Please reserve the date. We heard the feedback from last year that we should avoid the Scouting for Food weekends. We will be celebrating two outstanding volunteer scouters with the District Award of Merit - the highest award a district can bestow. We will also celebrate those who have earned the District Plaque and the District Certificate.
Please help make the job of the selection committee harder by sending in your nominations using the URL: https://forms.gle/UyTsBmvaXCYnQkrA7 We want to know all the great things your nominee has done in the past year. The selection committee will meet about four weeks prior to the event, so the cut-off date for nominations will be March 28th, which is coming up quickly.
As with recent years, the recipients of the District Plaque and the District Certificate will be announced soon after that time. The District Award of Merit awardees will not be announced in advance, but we use subtle techniques to get them to attend.
This year, we will recognize units with some new awards, such as the unit with the most service hours recorded per scout, and the unit with the most recorded rank advancements per scout. These will be based on the statistics recorded in my.scouting.org, and do not require nominations, just for units to record all of their data. The details of these new awards are still being worked out.

5/4 - Save the Date - Memorial Day Grave Decoration at Golden Gate National Cemetery
Come place flags at Golden Gate National Cemetery to pay tribute to the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.
For over 70 years, Scouts around the country have been helping to honor our country's fallen. It all began in 1949 when Scouts in the Greater St. Louis Council decorated the 190,000 graves at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery with miniature US flags. Since then, it has become one of the largest service projects in the country.
Locally, the Golden Gate National Cemetery was first opened in 1941 and is one of 131 National cemeteries in 39 states. It is the final resting place of 15 Medal of Honor recipients, Congressman Leo Ryan, and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, commander of the US Pacific Fleet during World War II. Each year, Scouts, Scouters, veterans and other community groups from all over the Bay Area gather in tribute to these gallant men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country.
The Registration Link for this is still pending so right now it is a SAVE THE DATE for your scout unit.
