This hands-on event gives Scouts the opportunity to explore railroading history, operations, and safety while working toward completion of the Railroading Merit Badge.
This year, we are able to accommodate up to 60 participants. Scouts may choose from two group options, but should register for only one group. Please note that the starting and ending locations are different for each group.

- Starts at Niles Canyon Railway (5550 Niles Canyon Rd, Sunol, CA 94586)
- Check-in: 8:00 AM
- Program starts: 8:30 AM
- Check-out: 2:00 PM at Fremont Veterans Memorial Building
Group 2
- Starts at the Fremont Veterans Memorial Building
- Check-in: 8:00 AM
- Program starts: 8:30 AM
- Check-out: 2:00 PM at Niles Canyon Railway( 5550 Niles Canyon Rd, Sunol, CA 94586)
Pre-Requisites

Day Pack Essentials
- Scouts should bring:
- A copy of the Railroading Merit Badge Workbook
- Blue card
- Lunch, snacks, and water
- Notebook and pen/pencil for notes
Important Notes
- No walk-in registration — all Scouts must be pre-registered.
- Parking is very limited. The parking lot can accommodate only 7 vehicles, so carpooling is strongly encouraged.
- Spots are limited — only 60 Scouts can attend, so register early to reserve your place.
