Council needs donations now more than ever to sustain operations

COVID-19 has shut down most of our face to face activities.   Because of this our Council needs donations more than ever to sustain operations.  Our Golden Gate Area Council has changed positions and is NOT waiving the PAIA fee that provided some funds for sustained operations. All units who have not previously submitted their 2020 PAIA invoice are being asked to send these funds in now.  Furthermore, PAIA and FOS payments are considered by Council as contributions and will not be credited to CPF that is due with unit registration in 4Q2020.

A few major reasons driving this decision are:

  • Loss of Webelos Woods
  • Cancellation of summer camps
  • Refunding camp fees to all campers totaling nearly $2 Million

Friends of Scouting (FOS) has been part of the Council funding for decades which helps to keep programs available to all Scouts.  We want to make sure that every scouting family has an opportunity to participate in Friends of Scouting.   Please consider a donation to our Golden Gate Area Council by clicking on this link.   For a donation of $100 or more this year you will receive a special shoulder patch identifying you as a GGAC Founder. Donations of $200 receive two patches and so forth, with other special awards for $1000 and above. For those who want to donate less than $100, please use this link.

Also, if you are part of a unit’s leadership, we encourage your unit to have a FOS presentation to discuss the need for donations and the benefits of the scouting program.   We have material that can be presented virtually.  The FOS story can be told by you or we can have one of our district volunteers assist in the discussion.

Please contact Brian Putt, MP FOS Chair, at  if you would like some FOS material or a presentation.
